Copeharder00: Tempering is fine, the problem lies in the fact you can brick a perfect item because “RNG”, they need to allow us to reset the item for a cost, even if it’s 20 million gold, I’d still pay that gold to save a god tier item.
bigmumjeff: I too am split on tempering. I like it when i temper what i want and do not like it when i temper what i don't want.
matheusmterra: The only change for tempering I'd like is for you to be able to KEEP your current temper.
jaimiefreiheit9317: I hate getting the same temper 4 times in a row and then bricking a god roll item. They should make it that you can't roll the same last temper you received.

jroc1176: Tempering has too many repeating affixes. They could increase the limit to 10 or allow all categories 5 tempers each, to better our chances. As it stands it’s too easy to blow all opportunities on one category.

sl5945: The only thing tempering needs is the opportunity to decline the new upgrade like enchanting, so i dont sit at 2/5 tempering left because of the fear of the chance my 1 imposing presence turns into some useless trash instead of rolling for the 2 imposing presence.
Truizify: Maybe the devs can take a page from the Disgaea series and introduce “item dungeons” where, if you want to unbrick a failed temper, you use a rare item to spawn a small dungeon (maybe cellar-sized) with a challenging boss or mechanic to defeat. Successfully doing so resets the item’s tempers so you can try again.
WilliamAndrews0: I think Temper-bricking in itself isn't that big of a problem, but the combination of bricking with the rarity of greater affixes is what turns it from "meh" to "fuck". Getting an item with 2 or 3 greater affixes in itself is pretty rare. Getting 3 greater affixes that you actually NEED is basically a miracle. Now if you brick THAT item, there really isn't a way to replace it. You just now have an item that is comparatively 25-50% worse than having even decent Tempers on it, or have an item that is 25% worse than having great tempers but no greater affixes. So either leave bricking, but increase chances of multiple greater affixes, or leave greater affixes where they are and add un-bricking in some way. but I wouldn't use Sparks, because that's just too high of a cost. I still haven't dropped a single Uber Unique, and I've been playing since release. Maybe use a bunch of masterworking-materials to un-brick an item, something that is rare and valuable, but still possible to farm without a boatload of RNG.
WestWrestling06: I would be happy with the simple application of not being able to roll the same affix twice in a row. Getting really tired of rolling the same useless affix 3-5 times in a row, bricking my item.

Also allow enchanting to have a third option instead of two.
Kagdar: imo the problem with one shot is the fact we have so little HP pool and too much damage reduction. Life doesn't move up or down any time. it just disapear when your damage reduction doesn't do anything anymore.
vadicus-tcp: Should be able to set your town portal to your "favorite" way point.
LastRightsTV: One shots are a problem when most things don't hurt you very much then the boss still one shots you. That gap is the issue. Parity in damage.
rlepidi3573: The problem with tempering is when you reroll the same thing 5-7 times in a row, especially when there should be a 25-33% chance of getting the result you want. When I see it’s giving the same temper a couple times in a row, I’ll back out and then try it again, sometimes it breaks the cycle.
aToxicJester: So my idea for tempering .

1. Make strongholds relevant in the end game by creating a random event unique to the player, similar to a side quest, where a random, non waypoint, strong hold has been retaken by advanced versions of the enemies there prior. [Level 150 ] enemies.

2. If the player is successful in clearing the strong hold in a set amount of time. You can earn worldstone dust [ 6 of which are needed to remove all tempers and masterworks from a weapon].

To keep player retention high, make the event a daily or on a 6 hour rotation.

This makes it to where you can reforge an item but it will be a long drawnout process to do so. So in most cases you will still "brick" the item but if you find that perfect one... with time and effort you can try again.
SIMPLEisWIN: The problem with tempering now is the lack of dopamine when a god roll item drops. Because you don’t know if it will succeed or brick. Being able to reset tempering would solve it. Since you know you have a god tier item and the only thing stopping you are materials and cost
kylegentles7653: Couple ways to solve Tempering, add 5 chances in each temper, don’t allow it to reroll into the affix it already is. Give us a fairly rare item we can use to add more chances.
Vroness: Diablo 4 is not an RPG game, but an arcade game one-shot mechanic.
Vroness: The pit is so sickening to play, when fighting the boss there's so many ground and air effects going on all around. Players are confused and sick of doing the pit. I don't know if players is fighting the actual boss or fighting an echo.
AdellRedwinters: I’m sorry but D4 one shot mechanics usually just DON’T work because the visual noise is a freaking mess. Skill can only help you so much when all these particle effects are going off at once and sometimes you live and sometimes you die in them.
