The State of Diablo 4 Season 7

Jan 24 2025

Wrtlskrscht: While playing PoE2 for the last month I realized one crucial thing about myself: I'm now a casual. o7
Raynhardx: d4 right now feels like a second monitor experience. Basically a fidget spinner to keep your adhd brain occupied while watching a stream or listening to a podcast.
lvke794: The game is fine from a casual perspective of acquiring power, but people often miss or use this as an excuse for having no real endgame. It sucks gearing and making your character overpowered just to stop playing since there isnt anything to use him on
KelfkaGaming: Raxx, it looks like a breach is starting up in your room…. Be careful…
audriusg1536: After playing poe2... now watching D4.. everything goes soooo fast here.
digitalermitanyo8937: The only thing I miss about D4 is your fps doesn’t dip to 1/3 of your base fps when there’s so much effects going on
beardedshawn: I really like that Diablo 4 and POE are different. Sometimes, I just wanna zone out and watch enemies on me screen blow up and sometimes I wanna lock in and challenge myself in a deeper and more challenging experience. I hope they never try to copy POE.
DiscoPilgrim4903: I'm a filthy casual, 1-2 hours a weekend, and I am still enjoying D4. This game gives me stress free, arcade-style fun. Thank you for continuing to make D4 content!
sephiros9883: The loot avalanche is a problem again. It feels even more D3 than D3.... But like Raxx says, there is no replayability. A season is worth 20h of gameplay and then you're done. I'll still be there for every season, i enjoy those 20h...but that's it.
stressfulpeacegaming: I will say it over and over again: the easiest fix ever would be to remove the leaderboard from the gauntlet that no one plays and put it on the pit. Flush it out, have the overalls of course, but also allow filtering by class and even maybe by core skill, or builds using a certain skill. For example, you could take a completely crap sorcerer based around, say, chain lightning, and see how high you can push the pit and where you fall on that leaderboard. Create challenges for yourself using the pit. I mean, we know it's basically the same thing as GRs in D3 anyway. Sure, you most likely will not make the overall leaderboard if there are cracked builds or Rob is having a good time (lol) but ultimately it gives you SOMETHING that you can chase and a REASON to gear and push your character to the max.
glemmstengal: The yearly paid expansion thing is what turned me off completely from the game. I realized they expect me to pay 40 bucks a year for no meaningful change and decided against it.
phish311420: Over 1000 hours in D4. Enjoyed most of them.
Started POE2 and havent even considered logging back into D4.
Its like I was eating McDonalds cheeseburgers with D4, and now I'm eating prime rib with POE2.
istvanjuhasz210: The brake neck speed in which we level up this season, and the the amount of loot we are swimming in, makes it irrelevant, to get to an irrelevant endgame loop.
Dino55316: "there's no real place to take the build" is very accurate and seems to apply to both D4 and POE2 right now.. I might just give Baldur's Gate 3 another go because it has been a long time for that one.
dionrobison8516: I’m enjoying the new season but Raxx’s point about the leveling pace is on point. These seasons while spanning months generally provide about 1 week of content before I’m max level, overflowing with epics and out of content. Some stretch goals would be nice…
CharltonHoward: I find the dopamine hits from PoE2 to be extremely satisfying, nothing in Diablo 4 gives me that same feeling that even just a single divine orb drop gives me and for me to keep playing a game i need to be getting those constant dopamine hits
AlexandraSpeaks: I am having a hard time getting into this season, love diablo 4 but i just cant bring myself to grind duriels for another perfect tyraels or another perfect shako please blizzard please dont just develop content for a season the base gameplay cycle needs to be updated it needs an endgame
billwaisanen9546: I think a lot of people appreciate Diablo for giving them their gaming fix while allowing them to maintain family time. Might be a nerd at heart, but so many of us can't game for 8 hours a day anymore. Blizzard gets a lot of hate but their games just feel good. Wish metas weren't a thing but it's fine. I still do not know what I received by getting the expansion as I never spend time over there.
shopp25-g9n: I'm having more fun with d4 than I did with poe2
hawg_tv: The franchise is dead. It’s a sad situation. The expansion was a bait and switch. The story pisses me off. OG diablo player of 25 years.
gumzster: Reinstalled D4....managed to do 20 minutes. Just couldn't
DrewCheech: Submitted with kindness, humility and respect:

I can’t be the only person that enjoys both D4 AND PoE2, and both for their own merits and reasons. Like yea I love steak, AND I love a good lobster tail. The false binary that these YouTube comment sections are creating where they make it sound like people have to choose one or the other is WILD to me. What’s worse are the people with blinders on about either game (an example would be complaining D4 has no endgame yet maps are just fancy pits; let’s keep it a buck.)

After burning out on S6 and bringing my Spiritborn to a point where it began to feel like diminishing returns, PoE2 felt like a breath of fresh air and it’s all I’ve played since EA release. And I’ll never say that PoE2 is hard (lest I rally the torches and pitchforks) but it is a cerebral experience in comparison to D4. Every single encounter can be your end, even trash mobs. “Dying and trying” is the motto of PoE2 and while it’s been enjoyable for the last month - jumping back into D4 S7 felt like removing a weight from my chest.

Yes, they’re both ARPG’s - AAAANNNND - they’re two vastly different experiences. Being able to jump between the two is exactly where we should want to be as fans of the genre. S7 feels great and I’m happy to experience this season while I await what Po2 changes and updates are coming down the pipe. It truly is the best time for us as ARPG fans
aeggeska1: There is literally no new end-game stuff.
Kai-gj7mk: If Blizz thinks they're getting a single dime out of me again, LOL they must be dreaming
gitchigo: Appreciate u making all the updates/guides on POE2 and D4 these weeks/months Rax, thanks man!
jvepps: Rune power locked behind that dead ass expansion sucks. There's nothing about it that I want other than runes.
ZGEGjugedead: i'm a little disapointed that d4 has already devolved into d3 style gameplay loop
