BentleyPascoe: The fix is easy: Take the team in charge of barb - transfer them to sorc. Take the team in charge of sorc, put them in customer service purgatory. Jobs done.
edvaedan9161: Give the sorc a belt slot and 3rd enchant and let’s ride
MrJusmessin: As a laymen I still don't understand that if I want to build a pure Electric/Cold Mage I need to put points in Fire passives...
SuperBlugh: As a barb player, and with Blizz devs stating that they want to bring classes up to the level of Barb, why don't they just leave Barb unchanged for a season or two and just focus on the balances of the other classes.
seancraig8711: Sorcs don’t have the damage mitigation of other top classes AND don’t have even close to the damage of other classes. They need to remove it completely or totally rework it. I hate playing sorc and it’s my favorite class sadly
seancraig8711: As a sorc main the biggest problem I see is a lack of a scaling damage multiplier like Victimize for rogue and hemorrhage/gushing wounds for barb. These give insane multipliers and sorcs have none. Also the lack of damage resist sustain like dark shrouds for rogue really make the class feel bad when you run out of barrier, very very bad.
VK-el3of: I found the solution. I downloaded Path of Exile and played the witch. There's more build variety, better skill tree, more things to do, and better development.
dale1890: Another good video. You play multiple classes so you have a good understanding of the issues. I do disagree with you about the new lightning build. Not every sorc player will use if it's the only viable build. I tried ball lightning in season 2 and hated it. I enjoy ice builds so thanks for the ice shards video. I've been enjoying the build.
I don't know how they expect us to survive. Any time I don't have a barrier or shield I get one shot by a trash mob.
One of the problems is that there is almost always a condition to anything they give the sorc.
You were right about the caps. If they have to have a cap they should just leave it alone and make all caps the same. Don't cap one class at 40% and another at 300%.
The only reason right now for sorc players to be excited about season 5 is the new generic uniques. If we can put generic uniques in every slot we MIGHT be able to do some damage and survive. Sorc uniques are just crap.
VictorLonmo: Great video as always Slaydra! Regarding balancing sorc I have a few thoughts...
First, let's assume that skills and the influence of stats are balanced between classes. I know that they are not but... let's just imagine it for a moment... If you then compare a sorc to a barbarian the sorc is giving up the equivalent of two 2H weapon slots which includes aspects and tempers. In return the sorc is getting two enchantment slots. If there were balance in the game then each enchantment should be equivalent to a 2H weapon. Since the addition of tempering it seems that the 2H weapon is radically stronger than an enchantment slot. Once an enchantment slot really is on par with a 2H weapon then it would be time to try to compare the classes. In the game's current state I don't think Blizz has a useful starting point.
In other words this is a suggestion for how to start the process of balancing the classes.
I think it is really important that the classes are distinct. My preference is not to add more equipment slots to the sorc.
If anyone from Blizz sees this all I can say is that I am not putting money down on the expansion until this class balance issue is addressed. In my honest opinion the recent changes to teleport and ice armor make no sense. I like playing sorc in D4 but for some reason Blizzard seems intent on making it a frustrating process. Leveling a sorc is great. I think that is fine in nightmare dungeons too. Playing the pit is a completely different story. In fairness I feel it was much worse earlier in season 4 than it is now.
When making changes to the classes I wish Blizz could imagine D4 in a state where PVP was important or at least some sort of priority. With the current balance if Blizz had a PVP tournament with one on one competitions which class would you bet on to win? Would anyone not bet on the barbarian? It should not be this way. I would like to see Blizz have that competition every week and use that kind of information to help inform their choices when it comes time to balance the classes.
I have my fingers crossed for season 5... I enjoyed playing the PTR but the class imbalance issue was clearly not a priority.
MetalDragon5745: Buff and fix Sorc if you want me to buy the expansion there's like 5 games competing for that money so the balls in your court Blizzard.
