Diablo 4 Sorcerer Best Class in Season 5 Now Best Builds, OP Buffs Uniqu...

Aug 05 2024

kallol248: Mark my words, Somehow Barb still will be the best DPS class in game followed by Rogue and Necro
lookn4heal: My favorite content creator! I missed the sorc videos
pdkiel: Fingers crossed a teleport bomb build still works, my fav by far
Brandon-qr1xz: I cant see a world where fireball sorcerer isnt OP when you can literally have like 30 ranks into the skill alone not counting anything else
yuyeastray3541: Starfall should have some multiplier added to meteor damage, then meteor build may become playable in late game content.
mrblitzer8705: At Last! Go Sorcs!
claireandslash6480: You think a 15-20% increase in damage is going to be relevant in the scheme of power in the game? Remember that three defensive skills were nerfed into oblivion and Sorcs are always a warm breeze away from absolute annihilation.
I'm rocking Rogue next season. They aren't as interesting as Sorcs but I tell you what, they hit harder and take more shit before dying.
josephfenech9037: Hey Josh. Wanted to say thank you for the great content you put out. Always informative and entertaining.

Just one thing though. As welcome as the improvement to all our damage scaling with Intelligence is (from 1% per 10 Int to 1% per 8 Int), I am not sure how you have calculated a 40% base damage increase from this (at the 14.36 mark in the video)

Taking a 1400 Intelligence End Game build as you mentioned, I think the calculation would go something like this.
Pre-Season 5: 1400 Int gives 1400÷10 = 140% increased damage, which is a x2.4 multiplier.
Season 5: 1400 Int gives 1400÷8 = 175% increased damage, which is a x2.75 multiplier.

From those, the overall increase to damage output from this Intelligence scaling change, for a 1400 Int character is: 2.75÷2.4 = 1.146. That means it is a 14.6% damage increase.

Don't get me wrong, as a Sorc main myself, it is great to see them give Sorc some love, compared to the mess they made of the class most of the time since release, and even more recently (with more nerfs when we were already the weakest, like you said). However, at the risk of being pessimistic (and believe me I would be very VERY happy to be wrong about this), I am still not convinced that we won't get very significantly outclassed by Barbs in the end game. Those 2 extra 2-Handed weapon slots, with all the affixes that come with them (not just Core Stats), especially 2 extra double-value Weapon Tempers (which mostly tend to be basically global multipliers by themselves), and last but not least, 2 double-value offensive Aspects, are just such a massive advantage.

And while they did get some nerfs, most notably to their previously ridiculously powerful Key Passives, I think at their current level, their Key Passives are still roughly as powerful as Sorcs' stongest Key Passives, if you look at the numbers. Furthermore, Barbs not only got some buffs to most of their uniques as well, but the buffs to the Multiclass Uniques, especially the Mythics, are just as much of a buff to Barb as anyone else, if not more so, due to the extra item slots (looking at you buffed Grandfather).

Anywho.. sorry for the long post. Started off on with some math clarification and ended with a rant (which I really hope I'm wrong about!!). Hope the first part is of some use..
Kegaran: This will be a fine send off to my sorceress career before the spiritborn takes the main slot
roshunepp: I've got 2000 intelligence this season. Maybe i need to double check.
TheSwamper: Isn't Intelligence capped at 1200 now? Stacking beyond that won't make a difference.
I rarely take Teleport on my sorc. I don't want to be popping all over the place, too much work. I rarely even use evade on any character. If I could find a sorc build that was mouse only, I'd play it.
One thing that still bugs me about all sorc builds is that you need to take a variety of damage types in order to max out your power. I wish I could play a fire-only (or cold or lightning) sorc.
